Clear Skin Program for Acne

Acne is often a telltale sign that there is an imbalance within the body. Because your skin is a two-sided organ, oftentimes skincare products alone are not enough to keep your skin clear long-term. After years of studying acne, I’ve set up a holistic acne program to clear your skin by addressing your diet, lifestyle, and skincare regimen. Click the button below to see if you’re a good fit!

  • For those who are not in the Lawrence area wanting to clear their acne. You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire, then after a phone meeting, a recommended home care regimen will be set up for you. You will receive several different acne handouts explaining what acne is and why you may have it, ways to avoid new breakouts from forming, and diet and lifestyle guidelines specifically to keep your skin clear. Please send us an email or purchase the Virtual Clear Skin Program through our online store to schedule your virtual consultation.

Ongoing support is included with the initial consultation fee.

  • The consultation is the most important step in creating an effective treatment plan for your skin. The purpose of this consultation will be to find the root cause of your acne and to create a treatment and homecare plan to clear your acne in the fastest and most sustainable way possible. We will do a skin analysis and go through your intake form to look at your current regimen, lifestyle, medical history, diet, and expectations, then make product recommendations to prepare your skin for in-office treatments.

  • For new clients wanting to treat their acne. Includes an in-depth consultation, skin analysis, and a customized facial treatment. We will discuss ways to properly manage your skin at home, come up with a treatment plan, and create a homecare regimen for you to begin your journey to clear, radiant, and healthy skin!

  • *A new acne client must receive a consultation prior to booking their first acne treatment.*

This treatment is for bi-weekly follow-ups and focuses on deep cleaning and healing the skin with professional strength exfoliants, extractions, and topical remedies. Concluding your treatment, we will review your home care regimen and adjust as needed.

  • LED light is used to shorten the healing time of acne lesions and stimulate the appearance of plump new cells, which helps to minimize the appearance of acne scarring. The LED light has a germicidal effect which can shorten the lifespan of c. acnes bacteria on the skin which in turn leads to clearer, healthier skin quickly.

Acne Scarring Treatment

Is your acne gone but the pigmentation and texture that lingers bothering you? We have a variety of treatment options that will effectively address these concerns. A consultation is required prior to booking any acne scarring service. Prescribed pre and post care products are also required in order to receive services.

  • This all-natural and acid-free peel uses spicules derived from freshwater sponge. This resurfacing treatment improves skin texture, erases fine lines, heals acne, and lifts pigment creating a brighter complexion.

  • A treatment designed to enhance tone and optimize the skin’s ability to repair and rejuvenate itself via microchanneling delivery. Lab-cultured Stem Growth Factors and Cytokines derived from human bone marrow stem cells are used to replenish and recharge your skin’s energy while brightening the skin.

Holistic Facials

Do you want to age vibrantly? My facials focus on nourishing and supporting the skin in ways that procedures such as Botox and fillers cannot. The modalities I most frequently use in treatments include:

  • LED light therapy

  • Ultrasound

  • Microcurrent

  • Facial massage

  • Skin-nourishing face masks, enzymes, and essences

Because each face is unique with different needs, all facials are entirely customized. You do not need to undress for your facial service. Just be sure to arrive in clothing that easily exposes the face and neck.

mikura’s skin Philosophy

What makes my treatment method different?

During our initial meeting, we’ll discuss your skin and health history, your current skincare regimen, and what your goals are. I’ll then take the time to assess your skin under a magnifying lamp to determine what steps we’ll need to take in order for you to reach your skincare goals. I use a corneotherapeutic approach, which means I do not perform or recommend deep chemical peels, lasers, dermaplaning, or microdermabrasion. These procedures induce inflammation, which often leads to premature aging, loss of integrity of the skin, and other problems that can take more time and money to fix.

The health of your corneocytes (which make up the outermost layer of the skin) plays an integral role in long-term skin health maintenance. You can visualize these protective skin cells acting like a roof of a house, shielding all the baby cells underneath from toxins, pollutants, and UV damage. When you remove these important skin cells, the baby cells underneath become vulnerable and unhealthy. Instead of treatments and procedures that focus on removing these important skin cells, I offer a more holistic approach and treatments based on the guidelines of corneotherapy. Gentle enzyme peels, facial massage, products containing nourishing plant extracts, various electrical equipment, and recommended homecare are used in order to support the skin and address your unique skin concerns.

What is corneotherapy?

“Corneotherapy is a remedial skin treatment methodology with its core principle being the repair and maintenance of the skin barrier defense systems. As the name suggests, Corneotherapy is closely related to Corneobiology, which is the physiological, biologic and biochemical processes of the stratum corneum; the outermost layer of the epidermis.”

Corneotherapy.org

It is now widely understood that the outer layer of corneocytes of the stratum corneum is a biologically active cellular tissue. The co-inventor of Retin-A, U.S. dermatologist Dr Albert Kligman, and his partners discovered that the stratum corneum, and the lipid barrier that keeps it intact, play a significant role in skin health; it can send many signals to the underlying living epidermis and influences the regenerative processes in deeper layers of the skin. This understanding of skin health, along with appropriate interventions and topical treatments is an ensemble of therapies that Dr Kligman labeled “Corneotherapy.”

About Naomi

Naomi Kurata is a Kansas State Board Licensed Esthetician who has completed over one thousand hours in esthetics training. She is a certified Acne Specialist through Face Reality Acne Training and MBK Acne Detective, has completed JoElle Lee’s Advanced Esthetics Training Program for treating multicultural skin, and is also a certified Microcurrent practitioner through 7EWellness. Her journey with skin health started at a young age when she started to experience severe inflammatory acne in middle school. After many costly visits to various doctors and dermatologists and not receiving the proper care or attention, she decided to go to school and specialize in order to treat her skin herself. Although it took many years of trial and error to heal her skin, this inspired her to help others who similarly struggle with skin issues.

Naomi implements medicinal and botanical based products into her skin treatments for their powerful healing and regenerative capabilities. These products unlock the body’s natural processes to heal itself.

The Meaning of Mikura

The last two letters of my first name, and the first four of my last, Mikura also has meaning in Japanese. “Mi” means real, truth, or beauty, and “kura” means cellar.
